Another fantastic family camp was held at Lyons Copse campsite from 8th to 10th July, with a wide range of activities including climbing, rafting and backwoods cooking. The super heroes themed campfire was great despite the noisy neighbours and the water fight involved everyone getting absolutely soaked.
The Scout Association has launched a new programme for all the sections in scouting after consultation with leaders and young members.
The key themes that are embedded in the programme are:
- Outdoor and Adventure should form 50% of the programme
- Programmes will be shaped by young people in partnership with adults
- There will be a focus on teamwork and leadership skills
- Individual personal development and individual challenges will be promoted
- Community focus will be a core theme
- Progression through the sections remains a key aspect
- All young people to strive and have the opportunity to achieve the top award for the section
Whilst the new programme is available from 30th January, there is a transition period until 30th September to enable people to complete badges they have already started and give us leaders time to adjust our programme planning.

The beavers did a fine job making a variety of creations out of vegetables to decorate the church for harvest festival. This year we had so many that we had to use a second window ledge.
The Scout Association has launch a range of new activity badges for all sections following a 10-month consultation process within and outside of the Scouting movement, during which the Scout Association consulted with over 12,000 members through focus groups, surveys, social media and events.
There are also additional staged badges for new joiners, with Hikes Away 2 and Nights Away 2, 3 & 4, as well as the new Time on the Water staged badge.
